Global Innovation in Women's Health Pitch Showcase 2026 during the BIO International
🌸🌸This is the Premier Women’s Health Pitch Competition where leading entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators unite to transform women’s healthcare during the BIO International week 2026.

Event Overview:
The event is a dynamic pitch showcase aimed at discovering and supporting groundbreaking solutions that address critical issues in women’s health. By bringing together innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs from around the globe, this event seeks to accelerate advancements in areas such as reproductive health, mental well-being, and chronic disease management. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas, gain valuable mentorship, and compete for prizes, all while contributing to the improvement of women’s health outcomes worldwide.

Application Phase
- Applicants: Any startup at any stage is eligible to apply, provided they are already formed as a legal entity.
- Focus: Startups are developing technologies specifically to improve women's health.
- Screening: Applications are reviewed by a committee which will select the finalists.
- Finalists: Finalists are committing to pitching in-person in San Diego.
Preparation Phase
- Workshops: Training sessions on effective pitching and presentation skills will be provided to the Finalists.
Pitch Presentation
- Format: Participants present their business ideas to a panel of judges, which may include investors, industry experts, or successful entrepreneurs. Startups will have a total of 8 minutes. We recommend a 3-minute pitch followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.
- Judging Criteria: Judges evaluate pitches based on criteria such as innovation, market potential, business model, team capability, and financial viability.
Judging and Scoring
- Evaluation: A Judging rubrik will be utilized. Â Judging scores will account for 75% of the score. An audience vote will account for the remaining 25% of the total score.

Tina John is the CEO and Co-Founder of Avira Health, a San Diego-based medtech startup reimagining what early motherhood can look like when technology actually meets the moment. Her flagship product, Veera, is a Class II wearable medical device — the first to simultaneously feed and pump from the same breast while displaying live milk intake data, replacing anxiety with insight at the most vulnerable stage of a mother's postpartum journey. Sabrina Maisel, PhD, is a translational scientist and strategic leader with nearly 15 years of experience spanning drug and assay development, cell-based therapeutics, and oncology. Some of her previous work in regenerative medicine and hair follicle biology centered on developing novel cell-based therapies, advancing areas of medicine that have historically been underfunded and underserved. Max Gottschalk is a venture capital and private equity investor with over 30 years of experience building and leading global investment businesses. He is Managing Partner of the Clinique La Prairie Longevity Fund, a EUR 300M vehicle investing at the intersection of Medical Care, Nutrition, Movement, and Wellbeing. Max began his career at Bear Stearns before co-founding Gottex Fund Management in 1998, scaling it to $16 billion AUM and listing it on the Swiss Stock Exchange in 2007. Eva Wang, Ph.D., MBA, is a biotechnology executive and investor with over two decades of experience at the intersection of life sciences, data science, and AI. With a strong operational track record, she has held senior leadership roles across multiple startups, contributing directly to three IPOs and two acquisitions. Dr. Wang began her career in protein structure modelling and genomics alongside Nobel laureate Michael Levitt. Today, she integrates her Ph.D. in Computer Science (UC Santa Cruz), MBA (The Wharton School), and B.S. in Microbiology to bring a unique multidisciplinary edge to evaluating companies. Janele Ting
Operation Associate, Nucleate San Diego
Janele Ting is a first-year UCSD student majoring in biology with a specialization in bioinformatics and a minor in CS. She brings experience and interest in the intersectionalities of entrepreneurship, biology, and personalized medicine for women's health. She has worked closely with the San Diego Nucleate community on the operations team for the 2026incubator cohort and in business consulting roles for local San Diego biotech startups. She currently serves as a project manager for the Venture Committee of the UCSD Engineering and Innovation EntrepreneurshipClub and was selected for the Qualcomm Institute Entrepreneurshipcohort of winter 2026. This summer, she is conducting research in agentic modeling of mass spectrometry data in the Dorrestein Lab andhopes to utilize this interdisciplinary background to further propelwomen's health ventures forward.
