🚨Women in Science and Technology (WIST) Conference is a one-day symposium organized by the San Diego Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS-SD). This event is designed to foster both professional and personal growth for all attendees across diverse fields, career stages, and sectors. The most recent in-person WIST event took place in 2019, attracting over 150 students and professionals in STEM. Typically held every other year, the conference's regular schedule was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are thrilled to be hosting WIST 2025 after this extended break and are eager to collaborate with you for this exciting symposium.

✨The theme for WIST 2025 is “Thriving in STEM: From Wellness to Leadership”.

The agenda will include a diverse range of seminars, round-table discussions, panel sessions and workshops covering topics, such as:

● Wellness Strategies: Approaches to managing stress and burnout, developing work-life stability, and prioritizing mental health for women in STEM.

● Career Development: Practical insights on navigating career paths, networking, and seeking out leadership opportunities.

● Leadership Skills: Strategies for stepping into leadership roles, overcoming obstacles, and mentoring others.

● Industry Insights: A comprehensive view and an opportunity to learn from leaders about different disciplines and roles in Pharma/Biotech to aid PhDs and post-PhDs choosing theircareer paths.

● Personal Branding: Guidance on building and nurturing a personal brand to enhance career success and gain leadership recognition.

● Building Connections: The importance of peer networking to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and create lasting relationships.

About AWIS and AWIS-SD chapter:

AWIS, founded in 1971, has a 50-year history of championing women in science. The AWIS-SanDiego (AWIS-SD) chapter joined the organization in 1986 and has established a thrivingcommunity to support all women and girls to, through, and beyond their STEM careers. AWIS-SD supports its members through networking events, career development programming, andleadership opportunities. The chapter is actively engaged with the local community through outreach events and scholarship programs to support the career development of its members and the broader community, including financial awards to young girls to pursue their passion for STEM.

Last year, AWIS-SD gave $7500 in scholarships and awards to 12 San Diego County students and members; organized 5 Academia-to-Industry coffee chats and career panels; 9 AWIS-SD Leadership Network programs and social events; 4 networking events for recruitment and recognition; 4 outreach workshops; grew from 150 to 174 members, distributed 3 newsletters, and secured $14K and two $1K scholarships through 8 corporate sponsors.
